18th Avenue House

The 18th Avenue House was built for a family that desired a minimalist contemporary aesthetic with high performance functionality. The design maximizes south-facing solar gain and meets Passive House air infiltration and thermal bridge free construction standards with an airtight envelope, triple-pane windows, and a heat recovery ventilator. Exterior wooden screens protect the home from unwanted summer heat. We were proud to learn that during both heat waves and winter freezes, our client reported a stable 68-70 degree temperature range without the use of the mechanical system. This house features approximately 85% FSC certified material in its construction.
