Build Like You Give a Damn

We are a cause-based company that builds in alignment with our values and encourages others to do the same.

For us, it’s not enough to be “green.” Every project reflects our commitment to innovation and sustainability.

Having been in the business since 2007, we draw from a deep well of experience. Our portfolio spans custom home builds, whole-house remodels, kitchens, bathrooms, small-scale commercial work and award winning concrete. This breadth of expertise allows us to approach each project with confidence, precision, and an understanding of how thoughtful design and high-performance building practices can work together to create lasting value.

We Want to Know Where Your Wood Comes From

We continuously evaluate the definition of “good wood”. Whether it's supporting regional, responsibly managed tribal and family forestry or being one of the few builders worldwide that can certify projects with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), we feel that driving a forestry agenda that respects our soil health, watershed, and fisheries is just as important as promoting energy efficiency. Responsible forestry management is an issue that is very close to our home and we will continue to make a positive impact by using “good wood”  in our projects.

Relationships are at the Forefront of Our Work

Building a foundation of trust starts within our own team and extends to our collaboration with architects, trade partners, and suppliers.

Our collaboration with clients and designers from initial schematics to project completion is fundamental to our process, which begins with workshopping early ideas, offering design and sustainability guidance, and providing early cost projections. With a conscientious approach to building and construction management, we develop unique design features and customized energy and material solutions.

  • JRA Green Building is up there with Oregon’s most progressive home building companies when it comes to green building and energy efficiency. I’ve worked with them on Passive House builds and certified Earth Advantage Zero Energy projects that push the building envelope to levels of airtightness and energy efficiency relatively unheard of in the United States. JRA’s attention to responsible material choices with respect to embodied energy content and the research they’ve done to procure red list chemical free materials is nothing short of incredible. Their dedication to making the homes of tomorrow today is self-evident.

  • JRA, more than any of the other builders we bid with, was the most able to come up with ideas on the fly and run with things we would suggest. They were excited and got us really excited as well. JRA is very collaborative; we had a lot of conversations about process. And we really got into the details. We felt heard. The JRA team is as interested in the finishes and level of detail as we were. As soon as we met them,  we had the feeling that they were going to pay great attention to detail.

  • The vibe of the crew is positive. I can tell everyone wants to be there. I enjoyed collaborating on problems with everyone on the team. It is clear that the people care about getting along and doing great work. They also seem to relish a challenge.

  • JRA’s workmanship is exceptional. We’ve worked with them on a few projects. What truly sets them apart from other contractors we’ve worked with or received bids from is their creativity and willingness to find solutions. Instead of saying ‘no’ to ideas, they lean in with a ‘yes—and here’s how.’ JRA brings a collaborative, can-do approach that makes every project better.
